The Andover Village Improvement Society (AVIS) is planning a gallery exhibit for the winning entries in “Andover’s Treasure: A Visual Journey of AVIS,” its first ever photo contest.
The contest ran from June 15 to Nov. 15 and was open to photographers of all ages and skill levels. It attracted more than 70 photo submissions, all of which were taken on AVIS reservations.
The gallery exhibit will run from Feb. 4th to March 4at the Andover Robb Center, 30 Whittier Court, with an opening night celebration on Thursday, Feb. 6th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The opening night celebration is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will showcase a total of 33 winning images, including one grand prize photograph as well as the winners and honorable mentions in each of seven categories: The Novice Eye (ages 7-15); Abstracts or Details; Landscapes & Rivers; Plants & Flowers; Birds, Bees, and Wildlife; Black & White; and AVIS Works, a category designed to showcase projects such as boardwalks, trail maintenance, and invasive plant removal.
