The Andover Select Board unanimously voted to name Alex Vispoli its next chair.
Vispoli, who served as chair in 2022-23, will assume the role and replace Laura Gregory at the board’s first meeting after annual town meeting, which begins April 29. Melissa Danisch was elected clerk, while Ellen Townson, who was elected to the board last year, was named vice chair.
“I want to thank the board for the confidence to lead the board for the next year,” Vispoli said after the 5-0 vote at Monday’s meeting. “And I commit to communication, maybe overly [so] sometimes, but communicating with the board.”
Vispoli is the town’s longest-serving elected official, having been first elected to the select board in 2004. He and Danisch ran upposed for reelection in last week’s local election.
Vispoli’s community service includes volunteering for Boy Scouts, coaching Andover Youth Sports, a member of The Knights of Columbus and Service Club of Andover. He and his wife Ann have four children.
