Andover School Committee Chair Tracey Spruce says the district and the union which represents Andover Public Schools teachers are moving closer to closing the gap following an 11th negotiation session.
During Tuesday’s two-hour bargaining session, the school committee presented the Andover Education Association “with a competitive three-year wage package that significantly reduced the gap between both parties, while staying within the fiscal parameters set by the town,” Spruce and Vice Chair Lauren M. Conoscenti said in a statement Wednesday.
Teachers and instructional assistants have been working without a contract since the start of the school year. The school committee’s offer Tuesday was in response to AEA’s previous proposal for a $2,500 bonus and 16 percent raises for teachers over three years at the most recent, down from its previous proposal of 16 percent in raises and two $2,500 bonuses.
The note did not offer specifics on the district’s latest offer. APS’s prior the union a 7 percent raise and no bonuses over three years.
AEA will give its response to the latest offer when the two sides next meet on Oct. 25.
