The state budget signed by Gov. Maura Healey last week included $220,000 for community projects in Andover.
“The FY25 budget is reflective of our state’s good values of balancing financial accountability
with thoughtful investment,” said State Sen. Barry Finegold (D-Andover). “This budget
bolsters Massachusetts’ resilience by funding initiatives from education to natural disaster relief
to community projects. I am grateful for the unwavering partnership from the Andover state
delegation, who remain committed to securing resources for Andover.”
Among the local projects that received assistance in the $58 billion budget:
- $40,000 – Technology improvements in public meeting spaces
- $50,000 – Improvements to the Lovely Memorial Field at Andover High School
- $30,000 – Improvements to the bandstand & gazebo at The Park
- $25,000 – Andover Historical Society
- $25,000 – Improve ADA access in town buildings
“This was a team effort—the local initiatives will not only improve accessibility and community engagement, but also celebrate our town’s history,” said state Rep. Tram Nguyen (D-Andover).
The budget also includes a $50,000 earmark for Andover News, which will be used to convert the privately-owned business into a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The move is aimed at ensuring the long-term stability and viability of Andover News.
“I would like to thank my partners in the Andover state delegation for their advocacy on behalf of our constituents and I look forward to seeing these funds be put to good use within our community in the year to come,” state Rep. Frank Moran (D-Lawrence) said.
