Andover Public Schools parents will have a chance to discuss plans for redistricting with Superintendent Magda Parvey next week.

Parvey has dedicated the first talk in the district’s new “Let’s Talk!” series to discussing plans that will move elementary school students to the new West Elementary School over the next several years. The school was built for 1,055 students, nearly double the capacity of the old school.

Currently, there are about 590 students assigned to the191,028 square-foot school, which opened at the start of the school year.

“We anticipate a redistricting plan will be developed this year and implemented for the start of the 2025-26 school year,” APS said in an announcement on its Website. “Based on the larger capacity of the new building, an outside consultant would support the district to evaluate current and projected enrollment in each school, redraw school boundaries, and recommend the reallocation of district resources.”

APS will allow for public input on the plans as they are developed and is forming a Redistricting Advisory Council to oversee the process.

The talk is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the West Elementary School Cafetorium (58 Beacon Street).
