May is national bike month, and Andover Trails has just finished marking way finders on the Town’s nine-mile bicycle trail.

“Access to Andover’s trails, rivers and outdoors is a vital part of the quality of life in the community,” said Steve Golden of Andover Trails, a citizens’ organization dedicated to enjoying and promoting access to Andover’s outdoor spaces. “Andover Trails promotes the Town’s mental health and I believe enhances real estate values. We need good schools, a safe infrastructure, a vibrant business community and accessible outdoor spaces.”

The loop is actually two paths: the main, nine-mile loops and “The Shortcut,” a beginner’s loop which is marked by an “A” with an “s” at the base. More details about riding the loop can be found in a flier Andover Trails has put together.

Both loops are designed to minimize climbs and left turns and are considered ideal for beginners learning how to share the road with cars.

There is also a 24-mile loop in Andover, but Andover Trails will not be able to mark that ride until next month because of construction.
