“Which Andover Home Would You Buy” is a new Andover News feature where we pick three Andover homes for sale in a certain price range. Readers then vote on the home they would buy if they were in the market.
Andover’s housing market is cooling down after record peaks throughout the coronavirus pandemic. In May, the media home price was $829,500, down 6.5 percent from May 2022. There were 30 homes sold in May, down from 36 last year, and the average time a newly-listed home takes to sell in Andover was 15 days, up from 14 in May 2022.
To kick off this feature, we’re looking at homes near May’s median sale price. After taking a look at the houses for sale, you can vote. Results will be posted in the next edition of “Which Andover Home Would You Buy?”
26 River Street, $849,000
This five-bedroom, single-family hit the market last week. It has not one, but two dining rooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a “bright and sunny kitchen” with newer appliances and butcher block countertops. The backyard is inviting, and the property line extends beyond the fence for future use. The house is located near schools, playgrounds, and the commuter rail and offers easy access to highways.
8 Sevilla Road, $859,000
Built in 1977, this home has modern updates, including a contemporary kitchen with new, stainless steel appliances. The living room extends from the front to the back of the home, and there are four bedrooms as well as 2.5 bathrooms. A sun room opens onto a brick patio and a “serene backyard.” Other features include a fireplace and basement playroom. Redfin estimates the house will sell faster than 99 percent of similar, nearby homes.
6 Saint James Drive #6, $899,000
It may be a detached townhouse, but, at 2,905 square feet, it’s the biggest home we’re looking at this week. The house has three bedrooms and 3.5 baths, as well as a living room with high ceilings, hardwood floors and a gas fireplace. The cherry kitchen has stainless steel appliances, a gas cook top, granite counters and a breakfast bar. There’s a first floor master bedroom with walk-in closet. Each bedroom has a full bath, and the second primary bathroom has two walk-in closets.
