How bad was Friday’s windstorm for Andover police?
So bad that by 5:12 a.m. on Dec. 23 the dispatcher had noted “worst day ever” in the Andover police log. By the end of the day, police had responded to more than 40 storm-related calls, ranging from downed trees and wires blocking roadways to requests for well-being checks on neighbors and relatives.

Tuesday, Dec. 20
9:45 am: Report of stolen vehicle on Cormiers Way.
9:48 am: Doherty Middle School concerned about student who may be skipping school. Advice given.
10:03 am: Animal inspection, Sunset Rock Road.
3:06 pm: Package theft on School Street.
4:12 pm: Noise complaint, Lowell Street.
6:44 pm: Erratic driver on Interstate 93 North who exited at Dascomb Road. Vehicle not located.

12:17 pm: Man trying to cash fraudulent check on Haverhill Street. Man arrested.
12:48 pm: Officer standing by while woman gathers belongings on Summer Street.
2:11 pm: Possible scam reported on Brookside Drive.
3:18 pm: Coyote with possible broken leg in backyard on Hidden Road. Gone when animal control arrived.
3:42 pm: Catalytic converter stolen on River Road.
9:09 pm: Person called 911 to report cat missing on Crescent Drive. Advice given to call the business line for non-emergencies.
Thursday, Dec. 22
4:39 am: larceny/theft, Lowell Street.
8:03 am: Erratic operator on Bellevue Road/Lowell Street.
8:11 am: Man screaming on 911 call. Said he was yelling because phone was broken. He could be heard saying “I want to die.” Call traced to Lawrence, Lawrence police notified.
10:26 am: Phishing scam on student, River Road.
10:42 am: Elder service check, Crescent Drive.
10:55 am: Elder service check on Mckenney Circle.
11:12 am: Loose dog on Lucerne Drive. Dog returned.
3:14 pm: Two men running on trail at Haggets Pond Road. Caller heard “one scream extremely loud.” Officer spoke to men aho said the “were just screaming to scream.”

1:46 am: Tree hit home and person inside on Farwood Drive.
3:45 am: Tree blocking Crenshaw Lane.
3:46 am: Telephone pole leaning and wires in trees on North Main Street.
4:54 am: Fallen tree blocking Andover Street. Road closed.
5:12 am: Tree and down on High Street Barricades set up on Burnham Road and Haverhill Street. “Worst day ever,” according to police log.

3:29: Caller requests well-being check on 93-year-old Martingale Lane resident who is not answering her phone.4:00 pm: North Main Street caller says neighbor is outside her home threatening her over a dispute about her cat. Neighbor left and caller does not want assistance.
5:09 pm: Main Street caller says someone went through their house and took items while they were gone.
6:44 pm: Walk-in reports his friend has been missing for a month and her car is parked in her boyfriend’s driveway. No answer at Harding Street residence, but car was in driveway.

9:57 pm: Riverside Drive hotel reports person has been trespassed. Officer told person they are not welcome at the hotel.
Tuesday, Dec. 27
12:29 am: Caller says his daughter-in-law took one of her grandchildren without permission.
6:47 am: Protesters at Pfizer say a truck tried to run them over on Burtt Road.
10:23 am: Caller wants help getting belongings from hotel on River Road after incident at 9:57 p.m. on Dec. 26.
12:15 pm: Haverhill Street resident reports social media threats.
12:48 pm: Noise complaint, North Main Street.
1:11 pm: Woman believes she may have been drugged.
2:50 pm: Argument between customers at Stop & Shop on North Main Street.
2:51 pm: Bracelet found and turned into police.5:25 pm: Caller who “sounds confused and nervous because it’s dark” reports she is lost. Officer assisted her back to highway.
7:04 pm: Person wants to report 14-year-old driving a vehicle on Dale Street.
11:55 pm: Noise complaint. Officer spoke to two people playing hockey on a backyard rink on Blueberry Hill Road who said they had lost track of time.
