When the project first went over budget last summer, the West El building committee closed a $5.5 budget gap by making about 25 changes to the design, including the "difficult decision" of removing one of the schools' two elevators.

  • AHS football (6-1) won its second-straight Merrimack Valley Large Conference Title with a 22-20 win over rival Central Catholic Friday. Junior Dom Pappa threw for 237 yards and a touchdown, while adding two rushing touchdowns.
  • AHS girls' swimming continued their winning ways, defeating Chelmsford 108-78 on Friday. Emi Hukkanen (photo) won the 200 IM, the 100 Butterfly, and was on the winning 200 (with Amelia Barron, Aneesa Hazarika, and Grace Merenda) and 400 (with Gaby McDonough, Olivia Landers, and Baron) freestyle relay teams.
  • Senior Sowol Lee notched her 500th career assist as AHS girls' volleyball beat Central Catholic 3-0. Sophomore Jessie Wang also hit a milestone, slamming home her 300th career kill on an Erin Workman assist. With the win, the 7th-ranked Warriors improved to 15-2.
