The one-year-old girl injured in a crash on Interstate 495 Friday died from her injuries, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s office.
Valentina Grace Campos was taken to Lawrence General Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later transported to a Boston hospital by MedFlight helicopter. The girl’s mother, April Campos of Nashua, NH, broke two ribs and a knee in the crash.
The car the two were traveling in went off the road, through the media and opposite traffic lane before crashing into a tree around 3:40 a.m. on Friday.
“Our family is truly destroyed and deeply saddened,” Valentina’s aunt, April Campos, wrote on a GoFundMe page that had raised more than $6,000 as of Wednesday morning to offset funeral expenses.
