The Town of Andover will hold its Veterans Day ceremony on Friday at 11:11 a.m. at the Richard J. Bowen BallardVale Green at 173 Andover Street.

Veterans Day marks the anniversary of the end of World War I in 1918. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median age of veterans is 65, and 167,284 of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II are still alive in 2022. The number f U.S. veterans has dropped by about a third to 17 million in 2021 from 26.4 million in 2000.

Several restaurants offer free and discounted meals to veterans on Veterans Day. Andover’s Veteran Services Department also has a list of local businesses that offer year-round discounts to military vets.
