Nothing could have prepared Bryan Gutierrez for what he found on his front lawn when he woke up Saturday morning.

Outside was a 50-foot inflatable Santa — an obvious prank, but not so obvious who had perpetrated it. As cars slowed down by his Carriage Hill Road home to snap photos, Gutierrez worked on solving the mystery.

“I had no idea this was happening until I opened door,” he said in an email. “It was courtesy of our friends in Cambridge who decided to pull the stunt overnight. In short, we have a 9-foot blowup snowman, and they thought it would be funny to one up us with a 50-foot Macy’s day parade Santa.

“They clearly won,” he said.

Gutierrez said he planned to keep the Santa — which is visible from Dascomb Road — up until 5 p.m. on Saturday.
