The Merrimack Valley YMCA kicked off “Welcoming Week” at its Andover/North Andover branch, which runs through Sunday and features the “main event,” an open house, on Saturday.

“Welcoming Week elevates the growing movement of communities that fully embrace new Americans and their contributions to the social fabric of our country,” the Y said in its notice. “It’s a chance for neighbors — both immigrants and U.S.-born residents — to get to know one another and celebrate what unites us as a community.”

All events are free and open to the public. Among the upcoming events:

  • Rock painting from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday.
  • An open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, featuring an origami event, a family swim pool party and open toddler play.

Details and more information are available on the Y’s Website or by emailing Kelley O’Hara at kohara@mvymca.org.
