Among the calls that kept Andover police this past week, according to the police log:

  • A woman in a “pink ‘weird’ dress.”
  • A fire engine backing into a police cruiser.
  • A housekeeper accused of stealing vegetables.

Andover police made 67 speeding traffic stops between Aug. 30-Sept. 6, up from 29 last week. As Andover begins enforcing the new, town-wide, 25 mph speed limit, Andover News will include the speeding enforcement information in addition to the selected entries from each day’s police log.

Monday, Sept. 4, 6:09 am: Two people singing and dancing in the middle of Haverhill Street. “Two girls were making a TikTok, should be no further issues.”

Wednesday, Aug. 30

8 warnings and 1 citation issued for speeding, and 3 speeding stops that were not designated as citations or warnings in the log.
8:58 am: Trucks blocking Greenwood Road.
10:41 am: Road rage incident, Lowell Street.
12:11 pm: Black Maserati vandalized in Tech Drive parking lot.
3:31 pm: Large turtle in middle of Sunset Rock Road.
8:10 pm: Raccoon struck by car, Salem Street/Wethersfield Drive.
9:12 pm: Cat struck by car, Pine/Summer Streets.

Thursday, Aug. 31

20 warnings and 4 citations issued for speeding, and 6 speeding stops that were not designated as citations or warnings in the log.
8:06 am: Hit-and-run, Sunset Rock Road. No injuries.
8:56 am: Caller reports housekeeper stealing veggies out of garden. “Officer reports speaking to the caller and he got his vegetables back and is ok with the outcome.”
12:12 pm: Well-being check, Shawsheen Road.
12:28 pm: Caller wants to turn over firearms that belonged to his deceased father.
12:47 pm: Tractor trailer “causing a traffic issue by the horn bridge — Truck is now free,” Central Street.
4:21 pm: Custody issue, Argilla Road.
7:20 pm: Liquor Check/Violation, Park Street.

Friday, Sept. 1

1 warning and 1 citation issued for speeding, and 1 speeding stop that was not designated as citations or warnings in the log.
9:01 am: Custody issue, parties reached an agreement, Dale Street.
9:04 am: Detective investigation, North Main Street.
9:55 am: Dead cat on driveway to Lanham Club, North Main Street.
1:50 pm: Dog in middle of Haverhill Street.
5:10 pm: Crash with injury, Lowell Street.
5:11 pm: Vandalism, Wagon Wheel Road.
6:04 pm: Kids running lemonade stand walking into road to knock on car windows, North Main Street/Railroad Street.
7:08 pm: Sewage backup, Algonquin Avenue.
8:37 pm: Driver being belligerent to AAA driver called to change a tire on Elm Street. One arrested for OUI, detectives dispatched for photos.
8:53 pm: 30-50 dirt bikes in Lawrence Industrial Parks off of Andover Street.

Saturday, Sept. 2

7:39 am: Three mailboxes struck overnight on Webster Street.
8:53 am: Moving truck hit bridge, Andover/Central Streets.
11:16 am: Tree on house, Stevens Street.
5:34 pm: Past breaking and entering discovered when owner returned from vacation, North Main Street.
6:43 pm: 11-year-old girl fell off skateboard, Lowell Street.
8:29 pm: Missing person, Lowell Street.
10:26 pm: Crash with injuries, Bypass Road/Salem Street.
10:36 pm: Fire engine backed into police cruiser, no injuries, Bypass Road/Salem Street.

Sunday, Sept. 3

5 warnings and 0 citations issued for speeding, and 0 speeding stops that were not designated as citations or warnings in the log.
1:18 am: Man yelling at someone on Main Street. Nothing found in area.
1:22 am: Report of gunshot on Stevens Street. Nothing found.
8:15 pm: Man asking people for money and making clerk uncomfortable in front of Railroad Street convenience store. Man was waiting for next train.
2:21 pm: Missing person, North Street.
5:31 pm: Store owner wants woman in a “pink ‘weird’ dress” removed from in front of store on River Road. She had been there since 1 p.m.
8:45 pm: Someone banged on door on Brookside Drive at the same time on two consecutive nights. “Possibly children in area playing prank on children in the house.”
9:49 pm: One person arrested after report of loud cars, Dascomb/Frontage Roads.

Monday, Sept. 4

0 warnings, 0 citations issued for speeding, and 0 speeding stops that were not designated as citations or warnings in the log.
6:09 am: Two people singing and dancing in the middle of Haverhill Street. “Two girls were making a TikTok, should be no further issues.”
8:28 am: Four-year-old locked in car, Carmel Road.
10:20 am: Warrant arrest, Lowell Street.
2:17 pm: Car hit cyclist, Lowell/Beacon Streets.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

12 warnings, 4 citations issued for speeding, and 1 speeding stop that was not designated as citations or warnings in the log.
11:09 am: Two loose dogs on Carmel Road, unable to locate.
9:47 pm: Caller reports gunshots in area of Ravens Bluff. A tree had fallen on the road and was pushed to the side.
