A highly-anticipated sports lounge — at least for Andover’s golfers — opened in the Shawsheen Village shopping plaza earlier this month.
Matchplay Golf & Sports Lounge — which features six golf simulators as well as a full bar and dining menu — had its opening pushed back by “unavoidable construction delays” earlier this year. The Andover Select Board approved Matchplay’s request for an extension to the six-month window to claim a liquor license approved in November in July.
The business is located in a space that has been empty for more than six years since Rite Aid closed. Matchplay will have seating for 112 and a full bar and food menu. Andover would be the chain’s sixth location.
