Brooksy’s, a new wood-fired pizza restaurant and bar in Downtown Andover, opened for business Monday.

The restaurant has seating for 59 people and is open from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. You can reach Brooksy’s at 978-978-783-3654.

The Andover Select Board approved a beer and wine license for Brooksy’s Pizza in August — the last local approval the restaurant needed to open. At the time, owner Brooks Rice said he hoped to open the restaurant by the end of September.

The new restaurant is taking over the space at 90 Main Street that was previously occupied by Bertucci’s, which closed is Andover location last year.

Rice, of Reading, has worked in restaurants for more than 25 years, but the upscale pizza restaurant will be the first he has owned. Rice expects the new restaurant to create 15 jobs.
