Andover is getting a 248,788 mixed-use development as part of the Town Yard redevelopment effort.

The planning board approved the project on Aug. 29. According to planning documents, the proposed development is being built by Andover Town Yard LLC, formerly known as Minco Development Corp., and will include 136 residential units, commercial space, and a 30,000 square-foot roof deck. The plans also call for a community building and dog park.

Annual Town Meeting approved the project to create a mixed-use, transit-oriented development on the three-acre site.in 2020. The select board chose Minco as developer in December 2021, and the town was to enter negotiations to sell the land at Lewis Street to Minco. 

In addition to adding a Town-owned property to the tax roles, the housing portion could help Andover meet new state regulations allowing for the construction of up to 2,301 new housing units withi a half mile of Andover’s two MBTA commuter rail stations.
