When Andover teachers went on strike earlier this month, there were unintended casualties during the three missed school days: cafeteria workers.

Teachers at Doherty Middle School responded Wednesday, giving cafeteria cards with money inside. “We realize it’s a difficult time of year to miss a few days pay, so we wanted to do a small part to help make up for it,” the card said.

“I hope some of them are in this group because this is beyond amazing and really touched me!” one of the workers posted in the Andover Cares about our Schools and Town Facebook group. “They didn’t have to do this, and I will obviously thank them when we are back from break, but I wanted to write on here to say thank you so so so so much.”
