Happy hump day! We’re off to a cloudy start in Andover this morning, but we should see some sun this afternoon. Look for a high of 70 degrees today and a low around 56 degrees this evening. Here’s what else is happening today:

1. Danvers High School officials “repeatedly” complained about a faulty camera system at the high school in the weeks up to the 2013 murder of an Andover woman. The family of Colleen Ritzer was in Lawrence Superior Court Tuesday for a hearing in their civil suit against the town of Danvers, Danvers Public Schools, the school’s cleaning company and Denisco Design Partnership, which designed the school’s security system. Ritzer was a 24-year-old math teacher when she was killed by her student, Philip Chism, in the school in 2013. Chism was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in 2016. In its civil suit, Ritzer’s family claims the school’s security system was not functioning properly when she was killed. The Boston Globe has a complete recap of yesterday’s hearing.

2. The Globe also has a moving profile of Xi Chen, the 53-year-old Andover man who died while hiking in the White Mountains over Father’s Day weekend.

3. The Department of Public Works is seeking public comment on its sidewalk master plan. This is your chance to offer input on sidewalks, bike lanes and other infrastructure improvements aimed at making it easier to get around Andover.

4. Andover police participated in a training session on Haverhill Street Tuesday. Earlier in the day, police had posted announcements on social media saying residents should not be worried if they saw out of the ordinary police vehicles and uniforms in the area.

5. The New England Spring Classic Car Show returns to Andover from 9 to 2 on Sunday (rain date: July 3). The event is free for spectators.
