Among the calls that kept Andover police busy in recent weeks, according to the police log:

  • A man yelling racial slurs in a Main Street store.
  • A man who got lost in Harold Parker State Forest.
  • A threat written in the girls’ bathroom at Andover High School.

As Andover begins enforcing the new, town-wide, 25 mph speed limit, Andover News will include the speeding enforcement information in addition to the selected entries from each day’s police log.

Wednesday, Oct. 11, 11:49 am: Caller reports campsite on her property, Holt Road. “No issues, items found belong to her landscaper who was setting up for lunch.”

12:11 pm: Bylaw violation for off-leash dog, Memorial Circle.
12:41 pm: Threat written in girls’ bathroom, Shattuck Road.
2:51 pm: Past hit-and-run, Chapel Avenue.3:40 pm: Vandalism, Lupine Road.
4:16 pm: Package stolen, Red Spring Road.
4:43 pm: Larceny/theft, Red Spring Road.
4:45 pm: Missing juvenile, River Road.
6:31 pm: Daughter requesting well-being check on mother, River Road. Mother was away with no cell service.

Saturday, Oct. 7

2:17 am: Missing person, Penni Lane. Miscommunication between father and son, who was staying at a friend’s house.
9:13 am: Social worker reports client has not returned to program for curfew at
7:30 p.m. on Friday, North Street.
10:26 am: Parent-daughter issue, High Street.
12:35 pm: Suspicious activity, North Main Street.
9:35 pm: Mass General requesting well-being check on Haggetts Pond Road resident.
10:04 pm: Report of man walking on Route 125 that may be drunk. Man got lost in woods earlier and was walking back to their car on Harold Parker Road.

Sunday, Oct. 8

1 warning and 0 citations issued for speeding.
5:51 pm: Four-wheeler on street and Bancroft Elementary School grounds. Unable to locate.
7:33 pm: Kids throwing things at cars, Elm Street/Walnut Avenue. Officer spoke with three kids who did not match caller’s description. They said they saw three younger kids running from the area 15 minutes earlier.
8:47 pm: Man trying to flag down cars, Chandler Road/Chongris Circle.
10:50 pm: State Police requesting backup at garage on Lowell Street.

Monday, Oct. 9

0 warnings and 0 citations issued for speeding. There were 2 speeding stops that were not designated as citations or warnings in the log.
7:35 am: Hit-and-run with injury, Beacon Street/Dove Lane. Vehicle had been stolen from North Andover.
8:58 am: Man who appears to be injured trying to get in vehicles on Basswood Lane. He was looking for his ride.
2:23 pm: Warrant arrest of 35-year-old Andover man, Lowell Street.
5:28 pm: Unattended children in car, Railroad Street. “Mom spoken to, kids were good.”
