Andover police calmed a man having a “mental health” emergency after a High Street car crash early Tuesday morning.

No one was injured. Police received multiple 911 calls about the crash and a man screaming around 4 a.m. Tuesday. When police arrived, the man — who was not identified — was running on High Street, yelling with no shirt.

“The responding officers determined this male appeared to be suffering from a mental health emergency,” Andover police said in a Facebook post. “Our officers applied their training and were able to de-escalate the situation resulting in no injuries to the individual or our officers.”

The man is being treated at Lawrence General Hospital.
