An Andover man is facing forgery and drug charges after police accused him of trying to pass a bad check in Milford.

Milford police arrested Sean B. Murphy, 42, on Thursday after being called to a bank where he was attempting to cash a check for $4,380 from the Town of Medway. Murphy had altered the check to make it payable to himself, according to a news release. Police also found methamphetamine on Murphy when they searched him.

Murphy was charged with forgery of a check, a felony, uttering a false check, attempted larceny by check, and possession of a class B drug.
