The Andover Health Division regularly inspects restaurants, stores, schools, and other establishments that serve and sell food, and Andover News publishes the inspections reports monthly. It’s important to note it’s not unusual for a restaurant to have a few minor infractions in a report.

Restaurants

Augusta’s Chicken, food truck, on March 19
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.

Caffe Nero, 77 Main Street, on March 6
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.

Chateau Restaurant, 131-R River Road, on March 20
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Designated handwash sink not stocked with soap or paper towels.
  • Handwash sink blocked.
  • Designated handwash sink not stocked with paper towels.
  • Two under counter dish machines tested at 0ppm. PIC instructed to post signage “do not use.”
  • Roaches on glue trap.
  • Rodent droppings observed throughout perimeter.
  • Clean pans stored in floor.
  • Fridge fans accumulated with debris.
  • Missing ceiling tile above ice bin.
  • Gaps allow entry of pests in loading area.

Perfecto’s Caffe, 79 North Main Street, on March 6
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Muffin tins and buckets stored in front of hand sink.
  • Windex stored in front of hand sink.

Stores

Richadale, 10 Railroad Street, on March 6
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • PIC unable to answer inspector questions about proper cold holding temperatures.
  • Eggs stored and maintaining temp of 51 F.
  • Proper date marking and disposition was not followed.
  • Personal milk and groceries stored in the egg/cheese fridge.

Schools, Churches & Daycare

Bancroft Elementary on March 13
Areas where the school was out of compliance:

  • Observed hand sink in prep area not meeting temp.

Doherty Middle School, on March 12
Areas where school was out of compliance:

  • Food not stored in a clean, dry location.
  • Observed expired, damaged test strips.

South Elementary School on March 13
Areas where the school was out of compliance:

  • Observed anti-slip strips in walk in refrigerator worn and rusted.

Wood Hill Middle/High Plain Elementary Schools on March 14
Areas where the schools were out of compliance:

  • Floors, walls, and ceilings.

Other Establishments

DoubleTree by Hilton, 123 River Road, on March 5
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Observed both ice bins with dust and filth.
  • Food not clearly marked.
  • Observed multiple live roaches in area.
  • Observed dead roaches and old mice droppings under buffet area.
  • Observed dead and live roaches in kitchen under deli unit holding salad components.
  • Observed multiple dead roaches in lower section of fridge.
  • Observed ice bin exposed to fruit flies and roaches.
  • Observed multiple food boxes on walk in floor.
  • Observed multiple broken tiles in food prep area.
  • Observed multiple non-functioning appliance.s in kitchen.
  • Observed non compliant plastic

Melmark New England, 461 River Road, on March 22
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.
