The Andover School Committee will vote on whether to cut some activity and transportation fees “to give families “much needed relief” when its meets Thursday.

APS spokesperson Nicole Kieser said the district looks for places to “reduce the financial burden” for families during each year’s budget process. In 2020-21, for example, the district eliminated full-day kindergarten tuition.

The district’s current athletic fee is $450 per school year, with a $900 cap per family. The current transportation fee for grades 7-12 is $200 per year — down from $300 last year — with a $400 cap per family. Other fees that could be eliminated next year include middle and high school transcript fees and high school class materials fees.

The school committee also approved eliminating the $125 middle school activities fee and increased the athletics and arts budgets to offset costs typically covered by parent booster organizations for the current school year.
