Among the calls that kept Andover police busy last week, according to the police log:

  • Three arrests.
  • A woman smoking crack in clubhouse on Shattuck Road.
  • A well-being check on person who “made some concerning statements to a financial assistance line.

As Andover begins enforcing the new, town-wide, 25 mph speed limit, Andover News will include the speeding enforcement information in addition to the selected entries from each day’s police log. Police averaged 16 speeding stops per week between Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, down from 8 the prior week.

Dec. 6, 10:48 am: Well-being check, Dascomb Road. “Subject was just napping on his break.”

Tuesday, Nov. 28

1 speeding stop that was not designated as citation or warning in the log.
8:26 am: Ongoing neighbor issue, Ayer Street. Walk-in mentioned threats and is “concerned for her and her family’s safety.”
4:54 pm: Harassment complaint, Ayer Street.

Wednesday, Nov. 29

1 warning issued for speeding.
5:03 pm: Package theft, Center Street.
5:50 pm: Hit-and-run, no injury, Andover Street.

Thursday, Nov. 30

1 speeding stop that was not designated as citation or warning in the log.
6:46 am: Mailbox vandalism, Tewksbury Street.
10:44 am: Report of prior road rage incident, Essex Street.
11:39 am: Well-being check at senior center, River Road.
12:15 pm: Elderly woman thinks she’s hearing something in the walls, Francis Drive.
1:43 pm: Man sitting on bridge and appears distressed, Bypass Road/South Main Street. On their phone during lunch break.
9:20 pm: Arrested a 49-year-old Quincy man on drug possession and motor vehicle charges.

Friday, Dec. 1

1 warning and 4 citations issued for speeding.
9:48 am: Neighbor issue, Ayer Street.
1:44 pm: Men playing basketball during school hours, Woburn Street.
5:03 pm: Well-being check on person who “made some concerning statements to a financial assistance line….they were just frustrated with the assistance line.”

Saturday, Dec. 2

No reported speeding stops.
12:39 am: Man peeking in windows of River Road hotel. Unable to locate.
7:18 am: Noise complaint, Central Street.
4:06 pm: Man lying on road and running up to vehicles to knock on windows, North Street/River Road. Man transported back to group home.
5:07 pm: Hit-and-run, no injuries, North Main Street.
7:07 pm: Missing elderly woman, North Main Street.

Sunday, Dec. 3

No reported speeding stops.
10:54 am: Freezer left on side of Wolcott Avenue with door still attached.
12:43 pm: Well-being check, Lowell Street.
2:15 pm: Harassment, McDonald Circle.
5:31 pm: Issue in area of Stop and Shop, North Main Street.
6:59 pm: Threats, Minuteman Road.
9:37 pm: Well-being check on caller’s kids, Taylor Cover Drive.

Monday, Dec. 4

3 warnings issued for speeding.
11:33 am: Package theft, Enmore Street.
11:57 am: Threats, Nicoll Drive.
1:10 pm: Arrested a 38-year-old Lawrence man on drug possession charges, River Road.
1:50 pm: Threats, Brickstone Square.
5:34 pm: Person wants to speak to officer about a person’s well-being, Joyce Terrace.
8:27 pm: Woman smoking crack in clubhouse on Shattuck Road.

Tuesday, Dec. 5

5 warning and 1 citation issued for speeding. There was also 1speeding stop that was not designated as citation or warning in the log.
8:35 pm: Search warrant, Memorial Circle
10:36 am: Suspicious activity, Memorial Circle.
11:38 am: Guest refusing to leave room at River Road hotel.
6:22 pm: Multiple gunshots reported in area of Bobby Jones Drive. Nothing found.
7:49 pm: Report of stolen scooter, Great Quad Road. Scooter located and returned to owner.

Wednesday, Dec. 6

2 warnings issued for speeding.
12:23 am: Suspicious activity, Balmoral Street.
3:01 am: Missing person, North Street.
7:30 am: Dead deer on Osgood Street.
10:25 am: Vandalism, Lovejoy Road.
10:48 am: Well-being check, Dascomb Road. “Subject was just napping on his break.”
12:18 pm: Caller found hunting stand and other equipment in woods near her house on Abbot Street.
12:43 pm: Man taking photos outside of Doherty Middle School. Subject works at Homes.com.
1:12 pm: Vandalism at school, Sunset Rock Road.
7:25 pm: Arrested Jonathan Gonzalez, 42, of Andover, on a fugitive from justice court warrant.

Thursday, Dec. 7

5 warnings and 3 citations issued for speeding.
4:01 pm: Resident locked out of house, Clark Road.
5:06 pm: Caller wants check on parents, Strawberry Hill Road. “They are all set and just having issues with their phone.”

Friday, Dec. 8
