The driver who hit and killed a 78-year-old woman as she crossed on Elm Street nearly two years ago pleaded guilty to reduced charges Monday.
Margaret Silvestri, 23, of Milford, pleaded guilty to negligent motor vehicle operation and will serve 2 1/2 years of probation. She was also sentenced to 100 hours community service and had her license suspended for 2 1/2 years.
Silvestri hit Francine Fuller at the intersection of Elm and Whittier Streets on April 27, 2022. The crash increased pressure on Andover officials to make safety improvements on one of the major thoroughfares filtering into Downtown.
