Main Street was temporarily shutdown Wednesday afternoon after a car hit a pedestrian in front of the Bank of America branch at 23 Main Street.
A woman turning left from Park Street on to Main Street around 12:15 p.m. hit a woman walking in the crosswalk from Old Town Hall to the bank, pushing her into a parked car. The pedestrian was itaken to a hospital around 12:35 p.m. with undisclosed injuries.
Main Street was reopened around 12:45 p.m. Andover News has asked Lt. Edward Guy for additional details and will update this story as they become available.
The crash comes two days after Andover began implementing long-awaited pedestrian safety fixes in Elm Square. In addition to installing No Turn On Red Signs and reprogramming lights to stop traffic in all directions when walk signs are lit, the Town repainted lines overnight Tuesday to add dedicated turning lanes from southbound North Main onto Elm Street and northbound onto Pearson Street.
